The Evergreen Executive is elected annually and is comprised of the following positions: President, Vice-President, 3 Directors, Secretary, and Past President.
The Executive meets monthly guiding the direction of the operations of the club, which includes the food service operations, special events and various club activities.Whatever your interests or background, you will enjoy a warm welcome at the Filberg Centre. Owned and operated by City of Courtenay through the Courtenay Recreation (Community Services Department), it is a Centre created with a broad base of community support.
The first seniors' programs in the community were held in the CRA and the Seniors Lounge (which was located in the old Civic Theatre complex) in the early 1970's, As the popularity increased so did the need for space, at which time many of the activities expanded to the lower Native Sons Hall. The idea for a centre grew out of joint efforts by the municipal council, community and the seniors. As a result of this cooperative effort, the Florence Filberg Centre opened its doors July 10, 1988. Since then it has been full steam ahead!
Activities, programs, food services and the building have steadily expanded. Today over 2500 members aged 55 years and over enjoy the facilities and atmosphere of this special place.
Your yearly membership (January 1 - December 31) includes a monthly newsletter, available on the last Tuesday of each month. It contains information on leisure programs, clubs, trips, special events and other activities for the coming months.
When you become a member of the CRA Evergreen Seniors, you automatically become a member of the Club with full voting privilege.
Each club elects a representative who attends the monthly Executive/Committee meetings. There is also an Annual General Meeting held in February with the full Executive and anyone wishing to attend.
